Landed Cost Calculator
Add your product costs and every shipment cost to see the full landed cost of each SKU and of each unit.
Results
Assumptions
Freight, insurance and the other shipment costs are allocated to each product by the basis you choose. Line weight and CBM are totals for the whole line.
Duty and tax results depend on the rates and calculation bases entered and do not constitute customs advice. No country duty or tax rates are built in.
How the Landed Cost Calculator works
Enter each SKU's quantity and unit cost, then the shipment's costs: freight, insurance, brokerage, port and terminal fees, local delivery, inspection, bank fees and any other costs. Shared costs are allocated to each SKU by the basis you choose: quantity, product value, weight or CBM.
Duty and tax are optional percentages you enter, applied to the base you choose (for example CIF, or CIF plus duty for VAT). No country's rates are built in. The result shows, for every SKU, the purchase cost, allocated freight and fees, duty, tax, total landed cost and landed cost per unit.
Formula
SKU share = SKU basis ÷ total basis (quantity, value, weight or CBM) Allocated cost = shared costs × SKU share Duty = duty % × duty base Tax = tax % × tax base Landed cost = product cost + allocated costs + duty + tax Per unit = landed cost ÷ quantity
Worked example
500 units at 12.00, freight 900, insurance 30, duty 8% on CIF, VAT 20% on CIF + duty CIF = 6,000 + 900 + 30 = 6,930.00 Duty = 8% × 6,930.00 = 554.40 VAT = 20% × 7,484.40 = 1,496.88 + brokerage 120, port 180, delivery 150 Landed cost = 9,431.28 → 18.86 per unit
When to use it
- Pricing imported products and checking margins.
- Comparing suppliers or Incoterms on a like-for-like basis.
- Seeing how a freight choice, such as LCL or FCL, changes the cost of each unit.
Limitations
Duty and tax results depend on the rates and calculation bases entered and do not constitute customs advice. Real duty can depend on tariff codes, origin rules, trade agreements, minimum thresholds and fees that this calculator does not look up. If you can reclaim import VAT or GST, consider leaving it out of the landed cost. The method is explained in How to Calculate Landed Cost.

Frequently asked questions
What is included in landed cost?
Product cost plus everything needed to get it to your door: freight, insurance, duty, taxes you cannot reclaim, brokerage, port and handling fees, local delivery and other costs.
Which allocation method should I use?
Choose the basis that drives the cost: quantity for similar items, value for insurance and duty-heavy costs, weight for dense or air cargo, and CBM for space-charged sea freight.
Does the calculator know my country's duty rates?
No. Enter the duty and tax rates that apply to your goods. Results are estimates and do not constitute customs advice.
